Program Description
As molecular biology is now being used in a broad range of applications. We offer research-focused training program aiming to allow the participants to gain in-depth knowledge in molecular biology techniques at different applications including mutation detection, monitoring patient response to drugs, studying the effect of newly discovered drugs at the molecular level, pathogens detection, DNA fingerprinting, infertility and in vitro fertilization, characterization of multi-drug resistant bacteria and finally the discovery of whole genomes.
Through this program the trainees will build their scientific background in molecular biology techniques from basic to advanced levels which will allow them to participate in molecular biology-related and biotechnological research.
Program Structure
The practical work in this program is a unique experience! as it will include many problems and the trainees have to resent the solutions using different molecular biology techniques. In other words, the practical work will answer the following questions:
What is the source / type of the initial sample to start the experiment?
What is the type of the nucleic acid and the best extraction method?
In case of degraded nucleic acid, what about the troubleshooting?
Once we decided to select the target genes what about:
primers design / purchasing – master mix type – template input conc. – thermal profile troubleshooting – visualization methods – interpretation of the results.
Once we decided to use qPCR in the experiment what about:
Detection chemistry (probe / SYBR GREEN) – needed reagents / disposables – template input conc. – normalization – optimization of the run conditions on the machine – interpretation of ct values – data analysis – validation criteria
